2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 Review | The Art of Electric Motion
The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 arrives as a striking testament to Hyundai's commitment to innovative electric vehicles. This sleek and aerodynamic sedan seamlessly blends style, performance, and sustainability.
This Hyundai EV won World Car of the Year on its inaugural model year, and it has gone on to win numerous awards in its short time as a nameplate.
Why does it keep winning accolades? What does it have that makes it a good electric car? This Ioniq 6 review should help answer those questions and more. At North Scottsdale Hyundai, we're thrilled to give you a preview of this exceptional long-range EV.
Exterior: Aerodynamic Sculpture
The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 is a masterpiece of electric automotive design. Often singled out for its unique beauty, this aerodynamic sedan redefines the electric driving experience, offering a thrilling blend of performance, efficiency, and style.
Hyundai design is a study in efficiency, featuring a wind-cheating profile that minimizes drag and maximizes range. Its distinctive silhouette -- with a sloping roofline, flowing curves, and integrated rear spoiler -- creates a captivating visual impact that sets a new benchmark for electric vehicles.
Adding some fun, recessed power door handles are designed to respond to the approach of a Smart Key. These are standard on most trim levels, starting with the popular Ioniq 6 SE RWD Long Range edition.
The lower front grille has active air flaps. Standard exterior features include power-heated side mirrors, aero wiper blades, a translucent Shark-Fin antenna, and distinctive LED lighting. As the top editions, the Ioniq 6 Limited RWD or AWD trim levels have rain sensing wipers and power-folding side mirrors.
Keeping the interior quiet, the front and rear windows are laminated, and the windshield has been acoustically treated. Solar front glass helps combat the fierce glare of the Arizona sun.
Interior: Sustainable Luxury
This electric sedan hides many secrets under its handsome exterior. The most important is its incredible spaciousness that makes adults feel welcome on the second row.
When you step inside the 2025 IONIQ 6, you find a world of sustainable luxury and thoughtful design. Hyundai's commitment to environmentally friendly practices is evident in the use of eco-conscious materials, including vegan leather and recycled plastics, creating a cabin that is both incredibly stylish and responsible.
Our favorite entry-level standards ensure the driver’s comfort, take care of the kids on the second row, and assist with cargo. These include:
-
8-Way Power Driver Seat w/ Power Lumbar
-
Two-Screen Cockpit
-
2nd Row Air Vents
-
Center Rear Armrest
-
Power Trunk
-
60/40 Split 2nd-row
The two-spoke steering wheel puts everything you need at your fingertips, such as audio controls and driver assistance controls. Plus it has paddle shifters that allow you to utilize four levels of regenerative braking.
Technology: Seamlessly Connected and Entertained
Technological marvels aren’t limited to the electric powertrain. This long-range EV offers an array of advanced features designed to elevate your driving experience. Standards include:
-
Dual Screens
-
Standard Navigation
-
Electronic Parking Brake
-
Push Button Start
-
Dual-zone Automatic Climate Controls
-
Apple CarPlay™
-
Android Auto™
A 12.3-inch LCD cluster display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen serve as the command center. These customizable features are easy to use, and Hyundai includes navigation to help you find your way. Software updates for the 2025 model year ensure access to the latest features and connectivity options.
Hyundai Bluelink® connected car services keep you connected to your IONIQ 6 from anywhere. This system offers remote start, remote climate control, vehicle diagnostics, and more, all conveniently controlled from your smartphone.
Performance: Electrifying Power and Impressive Range
The 2025 IONIQ 6 delivers truly exhilarating electric performance and exceptional range. Limited models add e-ASD, an electronic powertrain soundtrack that gives driving enthusiasts the feedback they crave.
Electric motors provide instant torque, resulting in responsive acceleration and a thrilling driving experience. With long-range battery capacity and a single 168 kw electric motor, the 2025 Ioniq 6 SE RWD model has an anticipated range of 342 miles. The Hyundai EV system delivers 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
Drivers command 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque in the Ioniq 6 AWD models with its dual motor set-up. SE AWD models offer a remarkable 316-mile electric range while SEL and Limited models offer a 270-mile range. Even the SE standard range battery offers 240 miles of electric range.
Charging Speeds and Fuel Efficiency
For the Ioniq SE RWD, efficiency is rated at 149 mpge in combined driving. That’s 153 mpge in the city and 127 mpge on the highway. Few EVs can compete with those figures, and even fewer can offer that efficiency while delivering outstanding electric range and excellent horsepower.
As incredible as the SE RWD model is, the others are quite remarkable too. The 320-hp SE AWD models claim a 121 mpge combined efficiency rating. SEL and Limited RWD models earn 117 mpge combined. SEL and Limited AWD models are rated at 103 mpge combined.
Charging speeds are truly excellent. Every Ioniq 6 is made with 800-volt architecture rather than the 400-volt systems seen on most rivals. Regardless of whether it has single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD, this ultra-fast charger makes life simple for people on the go.
It is capable of restoring an 80-percent charge in 18 minutes at a 350-kw rapid charger. At home, it only takes 5 hours and 20 minutes to achieve that charge on a standard 240-volt AC Level II.
Safety: Advanced Technologies for Peace of Mind
With Hyundai's unwavering commitment to safety, it should come as no surprise that the 2025 IONIQ 6 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of SmartSense™ driver-assistance features. These advanced technologies work together to help prevent accidents, protect passengers, and provide a more confident driving experience.
Compared to many brands, Hyundai provides the maximum even at the entry level. Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go capability, Lane Following Assist, and Highway Driving Assist give you some of the semi-autonomous capability that today’s driver craves.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist can do more than ever before. In addition to car, pedestrian and cyclist detection, the system adds Junction Turning on higher trim levels. Watching the sides, there’s a standard Blind-Spot Collision Warning and an active Lane Keeping Assist. Other features include high beam assist, speed limit assist, and a driver attention warning.
It also has plenty of standard parking gear, including forward and reverse distance warnings and an active rear cross-traffic avoidance assist. Parents will appreciate the rear seatbelt reminder before they start and the safe exit warning and rear occupant alert at the end of their journey.
Higher trims add a more advanced Highway Driving Assist (2), a Remote Parking system, a camera-based blind spot monitor, a surround view monitor, and parking-maneuver autobrake assistance. Hyundai adaptive cruise control can be upgraded to include AI machine learning.
Ionic 6 Prices and Trim Levels
Ioniq 6 prices are among the most affordable for this size EV. The SE Standard Range RWD starts at $37,750. As discussed throughout this review, it comes packed with advanced features and tech standards that make it an outstanding value.
If you want the maximum range and the maximum fuel efficiency, you’ll want to step up to the SE RWD Long Range or SE Dual Motor AWD editions. The RWD Ioniq 6 price is $42,700 MSRP, and it adds more fun items. A leather-wrapped steering wheel has fun interactive pixel lights. There are heated front seats to help warm you up on winter days.
Stepping up to the Ioniq 6 SEL RWD or AWD editions, the driver enjoys the benefits of an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a wireless charger, and the Hyundai Digital Key. These cabins provide the fun of dual-color ambient lighting that is fully customizable. H-Tex upholstery upgrades the seats. Ioniq 6 prices for the SEL RWD trim level start at $45,500 MSRP.
Ready to pamper the driver, the Limited RWD and AWD editions add aluminum pedals, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, and driver-chair memory functions. Both front seats are power-adjustable and power-ventilated, perfect for our hot Arizona summers. A wide sunroof and Bose audio system complete its premium atmosphere. At this RWD trim level, Ioniq 6 prices start at $51,000.
