2025 Hyundai Santa Fe vs Mazda CX-70

Midsize SUV Comparison

2025 Hyundai Santa Fe vs 2025 Mazda CX-70

Midsize SUVs should be well-made, stocked with amenities, and rich with today’s technologies. That’s the case with the 2025 Mazda CX-70 in Scottsdale as well as its 3-row rival, the Hyundai Santa Fe.

With Mazda asking for about $6,000 more at entry level, how does the CX-70 package compare to the less expensive Hyundai? Keep scrolling to learn more.

More Room for People

Despite its large, long body, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 in Scottsdale is a 5-seat SUV. It has just under 40 cubic feet in the standard cargo hold, and it measures 141 cubic feet in the cabin.

In comparison, the Santa Fe has 154 cubic feet of passenger space for three rows. Despite the fact it seats more people, it still promises more space on the second row than the CX-70. Size

Even if you seldom need that third row, the Santa Fe is clearly a better choice when it comes to size. Plus it has the most standard cargo space with the 2nd and 3rd rows folded. That means more room for your gear or big box store purchases.

CX-70 Prices vs Santa Fe Prices

Even though it’s larger with two extra seats, Santa Fe prices undercut the CX-70. You can save money with the Hyundai while choosing the SE, SEL, or SEL Hybrid with either the front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrains.

In fact, you can choose the Santa Fe XRT for about the same price as the 2025 Mazda CX-70 in Scottsdale. Likewise the Santa Fe Calligraphy models cost less than the top Mazda CX-70 trims.

And is the Santa Fe worth its price tag? It has earned a Cars.Com Best of 2025 Award and a 2025 Hispanic Motor Press Family Vehicle of the Year Award. It was named the TopGear.com SUV of the Year.

And what about the Santa Fe Hybrid? It has earned The Car Connection’s Best Car to Buy 2025 Award and a PARENTS 2025 Best Family Car Award. Car and Driver has given it a coveted Editors’ Choice Award for 2025.

    Premium Interiors

What do you get for your money? After all, it’s not just about the price. It’s about the package.

Even before you climb the trim ladder, the Hyundai offers more for less. A refined interior is filled with premium materials. Ride quality is assured by standard acoustic front windows and an acoustic windshield. Santa Fe SUVs have rear air vents and an exclusive rear seat quiet mode to make life easier for parents and kids.

A full slate of driver assistance is standard despite the much lower starting price. Likewise, the Hyundai has a 12.3-inch touchscreen to rival a similar one in the Mazda. Stepping up to the SEL, Hyundai adds a 6-inch touch display for the automatic HVAC system.

Parents may prefer the exclusive stain-resistant upholstery, but shoppers can also choose H-Tex leatherette or go for genuine leather to match the Mazda. Santa Fe Limited models introduce H Signature Interior Lighting, a Melange Headliner and exclusive fingerprint recognition.

How do the amenities and features measure up? Well, the Hyundai Santa Fe was named 2024 Top Midsize SUV in the prestigious APEAL study by JD Power. For the Midsize/Large SUV segment, it also topped the 2024 US Multimedia Quality and Customer Satisfaction Study.

Large 2025 Santa Fe

    Competitive Performance and Efficiency

These two midsize SUVs offer serious power to make the daily driver happy. Santa Fe engines produce 277 horsepower while CX-70 models produce 280 horsepower.

At first glance, it may look like the Mazda is cheaper to drive, since it can claim an extra mile in combined fuel economy. However, the Mazda turbo needs premium unleaded fuel. This immediately erases any savings that a Mazda CX-70 driver might hope for.

    Better Long Term Ownership

Hyundai is extremely generous with both its warranties and its extra incentives. For instance, BlueLink is a complimentary 3 year subscription. That’s an extra two years compared to the Mazda CX-70 in Scottsdale.

Likewise, Hyundai includes up to three years of complimentary maintenance. Mazda provides none. This means the Santa Fe could save you a few hundred every year, depending on the number of oil changes and tire rotations needed.

The longer warranties and free maintenance aren’t just about saving money. It’s also about long-term peace of mind. It makes the Santa Fe a much more reliable investment than the Mazda or any other 3-row SUV with shorter warranties.  Warranties
